Our Story
The Idea
Most jewellery sites lead with product, price, and a buy button. We wanted to lead with something else: where a piece comes from, who made it, and what skill it took. HASTAVI exists to bring that context back into how considered objects are bought and sold internationally.
We begin in Bidar, a town in Karnataka, India, associated with a distinctive metal-inlay craft called Bidri. It's our first collection — not our whole brand. As we build verified relationships with other makers and crafts across India, HASTAVI intends to grow into objects, art editions and pieces for the home, always led by the same discipline: verify before we publish, credit the maker, and let the object's craft speak louder than marketing around it.
Where We Are Today
HASTAVI is a working brand name — not yet a registered trademark — built to validate an idea before we invest further. The Bidri Collection you see is a prototype catalogue: prices are placeholders, several product specifications are marked "to verify" until we confirm them with our artisan partner, and our order system currently records requests rather than processing live payment. We'd rather be transparent about that than dress up a prototype as a finished store.
Where We're Going
The long-term ambition sits under four houses: HASTAVI Jewellery (live, starting with Bidri), and in future, HASTAVI Objects, HASTAVI Art and HASTAVI Home — each intended to carry the same standard of verified craft and named makers. None of these exist as real product lines yet, and we won't populate them with placeholder products just to look larger than we are.
